Monica Kim Garza is still exploring the female forms, by emphasizing the edgy contour of the body, the wavy lines of a posture, embracing with her hands the roughness of the matter. As much involved in the freedom of the characters she shapes as in that of her audience. Monica Kim Garza doesn’t want to impose any vision, any translation of her mind. Only feelings. Monica Kim Garza returns here to her practice as a sculptor. Do you have a dog? was molded from a clay prototype made during her Paris residency at Galerie Julien Cadet in the summer of 2022. It has been a few years since her last volume productions. In her 2010 and 2018 ceramics artworks series, Monica explored animal shapes, sometimes flirting with utility, she intervened by painting on their surface scenes and characters. As her first bronze, the piece has that specificity of being in a direct continuity with her recent paintings.
