Do you have a dog? Monica does. He’s been showing up here and there for a while now. Curling up against a woman’s chest, sharing a moment between two friends; the dog-human relationship has become a recurrent theme of her work. In a two pieces bronze sculpture, Monica Kim Garza manages to represent the affection and the reciprocity of the two characters, mirroring each other. The figure’s leg in the air playfully alignes with the tail of the dog. She’s losing her focus while he’s busy with his ball. However the two characters are disposed, they are in each other’s company, representing perfectly those “just hanging” moments that are dear to Kim Garza’s artworks.
